Good Meat Pies in Canterbury

On our guide's recommendation, we tried the meat pies at the White Hart pub in Canterbury a couple of weeks ago. The pies were delicious. I had pork and apple; DH had beef and ale. The portions were generous, and the pies were hot, with sturdy but flaky crust.

One word of warning: the service was good, but terribly slow. We arrived at 5:30, too early for dinner, but cheerfully enjoyed a beer on the patio. We ordered our dinner at 6:00, after the chef arrived. We didn't get our food until 6:45; the people sitting near us, who had ordered simpler items right after we did, still had not been served when we left after 7:00. And some friends who had also been there that evening had pretty much the same story, about an hour's wait for the food. It may have been just an off night; we did notice the barman going back to help the cook every now and then. We'd gladly eat there again, but next time we'll come prepared to wait.
