We have stayed at Gatwick Airport three times now , usually before an early transatlantic flight home .
Two days ago we arrived at 7:30 am from west coast Canada , a very long flight and journey ( as we live on island so travel to our departure airport takes at least 4 hours including a ferry ride ) . The next day at 8 am we had a flight to Prague - so decided to stay at an airport hotel and just store our luggage pre check in and then take off for the day to Brighton ( super easy direct 25 min train ride ).
We booked at the Hampton Suites by Hilton . Never stayed there before but got a good rate that included breakfast . 110 gbp .
Guess what , they will not store luggage before check in . So ok , we figured luggage storage .
Wanted 12.50 gbp per bag - so our two cases ( 22 , 24 inch ) and two carry on bags - would have cost us 100 gbp !!! Ridiculous .
So we go to our hotel and ask for early check in fee .
79 gbp !!!!!!
Insane .
So we go to the Bloc hotel ( and we have stayed there before so knew rooms were small ) - 39 gbp for day rate (9-4) - booked it !
Have our luggage “ storage “ - a quick shower , and a place to stretch out for an hour to rest before we went to Brighton !
Even if you just use it as luggage storage it’s better than paying 12:50 per bag !
