Mom and I ended up staying at the Copthorne Tara Hotel for a few nights after a disastrous airbnb experience. We found the hotel to be very comfortable. The staff was friendly, the price was reasonable and the location was excellent- a 5 minute walk from the High Street Kensington station. We ate at a restaurant nearby called “Raj of Kensington” - my second time. I really enjoy the food there and we had a very good (and spicy!) meal! I would recommend both places.
We stayed at the Copthorne Tara Hotel on our first visit to London in 2006. It was at the end of our first European trip and I was in charge of all the planning. I found a 'stay 4 nights get the 5th night free' deal, so we did. I also found it to be comfortable and in a good location. The breakfast was expensive so we went elsewhere. It was the largest hotel of our trip and we were told they often have airline personnel stay there. I would recommend it as well.
I cannot remember the circumstances, and it was some years ago, but we were happy to stay there and in fact returned a second time. I would certainly go back there, although it may not be as well situated as hotels in other parts of London.
Andrea- We also thought the hotel breakfast was expensive at 20 pounds a person. We had a voucher for 10 pounds per person for one morning so that was much more reasonable. There was a wide variety of food, but we wouldn’t have paid 20 pounds a person for it.
