This might get more answers if it was in the Wales forum, rather than the England forum.

We’ve stayed in the Lincoln House Hotel on Cathedral Road in Cardiff a few times - and really like it. On a leafy road, with some good pubs and cafes nearby; it backs onto Bute Park - there is a gate into the park right by the hotel and it’s a short pleasant walk through the park into the city centre.

Can't recommend the hotel, but if you love authentic Italian food, I can recommend Casanova restaurant right in the shadows of the stadium. Small menu but you feel like you are in Italy and not Italian America.
