Breakfast Near Westminster Abbey or Tower Bridge tube station

Looking for a good breakfast place that isn't too expensive. We are staying at the Allstay Malting Tower Residence and will be heading over to see Westminster Abbey so either area would work fine. We had thought to try the cabman shelter, but there is none in those areas. Thank you!

Kristen, as no replies yet, I'd recommend Wesley's Cafe in the lower level of the Central Methodist Hall in Whitehall/Westminster Abbey area. Cafeteria style with decent prices. Opens at 8 weekdays and 9 weekends according to their website. More like eating in an office/conference center cafeteria, but public welcome. I've had lunch there, and food was fine.

Like Rachel, we have had quick meals at Wesley's Cafe at the Methodist Central Hall (Parliament Square, Lower Ground Floor) and while it is charm-free, it serves some good food at low prices and is within a short walk to Westminster Abbey. You can see the place and its menu at www.c-h-w.com/cafe/ Lots of locals eat here. I like their scones which are available in the afternoon.

Another good choice for cheap but good eats near Westminster Abbey is The Wash House Cafe. It's about a 5 minute walk to the Abbey. www.theabbeycentre.org.uk/community/cafe-wash-house-cafe Mostly locals eat here. Most tourists don't even know about it. Be sure to try their jacket potatoes.

Most convenient of all and where I love to have afternoon tea (with some dreamy scones) is at Westminster Abbey's own Cellarium Cafe Terrace! This is right there! They have different meals available and of course, tea! www.benugo.com/restaurants/cellarium-cafe-terrace We love it there.

Terri,
Thanks for sharing those ideas. I'm going to add them to my own notes for next time!

I can recommend the cafe within the Abbey. I was fortunate last summer to make it from Heathrow to the Abbey in time for opening. First order of business once in the Abbey was to inquire about a WC. and they have one. I toured along with everyone else and then headed to the cafe where it was relatively empty. I ordered eggs and some special kind of toast. It was very relaxing and tasty. There were WC facilities appended to the cafe, too. I do not recall the expense. I am sure you can find that online.

Enjoy.
