Anniversary Trip in July

I have to go to Manchester for work in early July. My wife will join me and we plan to stop and visit London for five nights afterwards for our 30th anniversary trip. Probably a crowded time but not much I can do. We will probably tour around London most days and maybe a day trip to Dover and/or Cambridge. I was looking at hotels and I think we want a very central location in the $400 or 375 GBP/night range or less. Reasonable priced restaurants close by, Underground link, and very clean are other things that are important. I was in London 10 years ago and stayed at the Amba Charring Cross, which was very centrally located, but the room was very small. The hotels I am looking at:

Amba Charring Cross
Ambersand
Royal Horseguard (for the view?...not many restaurants around ☹)
Mayfair Chesterfield
The Montague on the Gardens

Any thoughts and/or recommendations?

We stayed at Royal Horseguard for a night last year on our way home. We absolutely loved our room and the view of the London Eye. It was a fabulous room and close to an Underground stop. It was a real treat to stay there for a night!

I would recommend you post this under "Q & A" -questions and answers for England. You have this posted under "England reviews" and likely won't get as many people to give you feedback.
