Air bnb for London?

As I plan my trip to London for next spring, my thoughts have turned to Air bnb. The concept sort of baffles me, but I'm willing to with it.

I understand it's actually illegal for someone to do this in London. Am I right?

I'd be interested to hear your thoughts, your experiences, etc. I think rather than staying in a room with a family, I'd like a self-catering flat/studio.

Thanks!

Go to their website and look for London lodgings. There is quite a range of offerings, usually. Read and shop carefully. When you find a place that sounds good, read what the owner says about costs, rules, etc. Yneed to be aware of what is being offered. After sorting through, contact the owner. You may need to contact several owners before making a deal.

OR....consider shopping for an apartment at one of the apartment rental sites such as VRBO, etc.

The AirBnb I stayed in was run by a professional landlord, as were all the units in the building. It was a small one bedroom with a washer/dryer in the bathroom in the Whitechapel neighborhood. If you'd like the link, let me know.

I stayed in April 2014 and had no problems with either the flat or any obstacles presented by residency laws. I enjoyed my stay immensely and highly recommend the host.

My first Airbnb experience was in London last year. It was a studio apartment located under the owner's home. It was just perfect for me and my husband. It's located on the South Bank, not far from the river. It's between the Waterloo and Blackfriar stations. Public transportation was easy from there. If you would like the flat information just send me a PM.
