Afternoon tea to recommend near the British Museum

I know a lot of people are keen to try an afternoon tea in London so I thought I would recommend one that I have just tried and enjoyed at Dalloway Terrace.

It's attached to the Bloomsbury Hotel just behind Tottenham Court Road/New Oxford Street, by the stage door of the Dominion Theatre.
The terrace is covered and heated with really pretty decor. Lots of twinkling fairy lights and faux cherry blossom. It probably sounds a bit naff but it's stylishly done. Very instagrammable!

At the moment the tea menu has been designed by last years winner of the Great British Bake Off so is a bit different. We all loved the orange and cardamom scones, just different enough. The peanut butter and jelly profiteroles divided the audience, I loved them. And who doesn't love lemon and gin drizzle cake!

The staff were friendly and relaxed. They just let us chat for ages.

It's certainly not cheap at £35, £40 with good sparkling wine, but good for a slightly more special tea.

Emma, I love that the afternoon tea menu was a Great British Bake Off creation. I had to google to see who the winner was in 2016, and it was Candice, Candice of the red lips. Haven't got to the 2016 series yet where I live.

I am watching the show now, every Friday night. Just 4 more bakers left. Thanks for the tip. It is certainly less expensive than other afternoon teas I have read about. I believe the one at the Plaza Hotel in NYC is $75 pp.

Emma - Thank you for this review. It looks like a nice place for lunch or afternoon tea on our day at the British Museum.

I've passed by the hotel and terrace and thought it looked quite elegant! It's nice to hear that the offerings are quality too.
