Accomodations in Durham

I plan on visiting Durham in September and am have a hard time finding a B&B or hotel that is reasonably priced and well located.

I'd like to be no further than a 10-minute walk to Durham Cathedral and Castle and other attractions and pubs downtown.

Thanks.

Look on AirBnB. Had a lovely quiet room in a family’s home in 2013.

I stayed at one of the University residences during a cycle trip a few years ago and was very impressed. The residences are across the street from the cathedral, about 1 minute away. I found them to be quiet at night.
The rooms were large, basic, and had kettles with tea, towels, and soap. The toilets and showers were down the hall. The breakfast was in the student dining hall ( it would fit right in to a BBC period drama ) and was one the best breakfasts that I have had with a wide, unlimited selection of hot and cold food.
There is only one steep winding street up to the University and Cathedral and little obvious parking so could be less attractive if you are driving.
Hope this helps

We are currently staying at Farnley Tower, which is about a 10 minute walk from the castle and cathedral. It's a beautiful B&B, and we've been very happy with it. We're paying about £100 a night, inclusive of breakfast.

The castle accommodation mentioned is University College. You can check availability by emailing them at [email protected].
