My husband and teen son will be in Aalborg for about a week in late April to early May
Do you have any general tips and recommendations of where to stay, local transport- bus/ train pass, and daily costs for food/misc.
Are there a number of ATMs ? Would you recommend taking US dollars?

For public transport in all of Denmark use www.rejseplanen.dk.
There are plenty of ATMs scattered across the city and you can use cards practically anywhere. Don't bring US Dollars, where do you expect to use them?
