Anyone have good resources on how to plan ancestral trip to Denmark to find historical records and distant cousins,? I'm from Mon, Falster, Nyboking, Stege, areas. Do I contact churches? Local historical groups? Have Ancestry.com for some data. Can only go back to GGF and GGF and then stuck.
A good place to start is at the National Archives:

Hi, I am doing the same right now. There is a Facebook group that has been helpful, called "Danish American Genealogy". Members can post things and Danish speakers will translate it for you or do some searches for you, just to be friendly. The members of the group also have said that the site MyHeritage.com is popular with Danes as can be used in Danish. The other site they suggest is http://www.ddd.dda.dk/ddd_en.htm
To get started with MyHeritage, you can download your ancestry tree and upload it onto MyHeritage as a Gedcom file to get you started, then you have "smart matches" with other members. I found my great-grandmother's siblings who stayed in Denmark that way. MyHeritage has a 14 day trial, after that it goes to a paid membership. Good luck.
Thank you Diana!
