I'm looking for a good Danish restaurant in Copenhagen. In looking around some interesting places appear to be open only for lunch but I'm looking for a dinner place. Any suggestions?
What price range? If you are willing to book in advance and want to splurge a bit Noma is a good choice.
Noma is mentioned in Rick's book but I'm not looking for a $1,000 dinner for two.
$200- $250 dinner for two would be more in line with my thinking.
I have two suggestions:
https://reffen.dk/en/stalls/ a street food market. It's a bit hard to find, but worth the trouble. See https://reffen.dk/en/info-uk/#transport
https://www.tivoli.dk/en/mad-og-drikke/spisesteder/nimb-brasserie in Tivoli, but you can access the restaurant without entering (and paying) Tivoli.
A little bit off the path is the amusement park Dyrehavsbakken or just Bakken for short. Free entry and a lot of restaurants. Check if it is open when you visit. It is a 20min train ride + a walk away from Copenhagen. There is also a deer park if you want to take a walk before dinner. It is between Copenhagen and Helsingør/Louisiana, so if you do a daytrip you can stop for dinner on the way back.
Many restaurants have the very traditional fried pork with parsley sauce, for example Restaurant Bondestuen and Hivde Hest. Bræddehytten has pork neck confit which I guess is a little more modern. Røde Port has a deer dish (maybe locally sourced?). Maybe skip dessert and go for an instagram-friendly "gammeldags isvaffel" (oldstyle ice cream cone) instead. But don't go to Bakken for the food, you need to value the experience of something off the beaten path and less tourists.
Thanks for the suggestions. Reffen Stalls sounds interesting, especially if it is a nice night. On the water with some locals. We are planning to finish the day at the Church of Our Savior. Reffen Stalls are just short bus ride away. That could work well for us. Thanks.
