we were planning on renting a car at the airport but sounds like picking up the car in Odense may be easier and perhaps cheaper. The map I have does not show many gas stations. I did not rent an electric car.... can anyone advise how plentiful gas stations are in Jutland, Funen and Zeeland. Also what does gas run per litre?

As a Zeeland resident I have never had any trouble finding a gas station. Google Maps show gas stations as one of the "nearby" options.
Gas is around 14,15 DKK per liter. A bit more expensive on the motorway.

Plenty of gas stations. Not on every street corner, but you're not going to run out of gas by accident. So it's not something to worry about.
