We plan on visiting Copenhagen in September and we would like to hire a guide to drive us out to the small island from which our family migrated to the USA. Does anyone know someone the would help for a custom tour like that?
What is the name of thi island/town you family came from? I don't know about guides, but I might be able to offer advice about practicalities if you wan't to go there without a guide.
We want to go to the island of Romo. My husband is 75 and comfortable driving in foreign countries. Looks like you can not get there by train?
There is no direct train to Rømø, you have to take a train and two local buses to get there and it takes 5 and a half hours, so it's not exactly a day trip either. Look at http://www.rejseplanen.dk/ for all public transport in Denmark
A rental car would be the best option to get there and also to get around the area. How much time are you planning on spending there?
We have nine days in Copenhagen. We could drive if not too complicated.
With nine days in Copenhagen you will have plenty of time to rent a car for a few days, to get to Rømø and also see more of the country. A visit to Ribe, Denmarks oldest town, is a must when you are in the area, but there is also plenty to see along the way from Copenhagen, depending on your interests.
