Places to visit outside of Copenghagen

Hi Forum-
My husband and I are flying to Copenhagen from BOS landing June 27 and leaving July 3rd- so a quick trip. We are hoping to get out of the city and explore a bit and would love suggestions. We have not booked accommodations yet- so could do day trips from Copenhagen or are also open to a night or two somewhere else. We just need to fly out of Copenhagen. Malmo, Odense, Roskilde Zealand Island, and the seaside villages have all shown up as options in my research, but I would love to hear from people on here. Also open to the overnight ferry to Oslo- that may be too much though! Thank you!

Odense was delightful for a 2 night visit on our trip last summer. Could also be done as a day trip from Copenhagen depending on the sites you wanted to visit. 90 minute train ride. Lots of ideas on line, like here: https://www.visitdenmark.com/denmark/destinations/fyn/odense

Easy day trips that we enjoyed -

Kronborg Castle in the town of Helsingør - town is charming, we enjoyed the maritime museum, ferry to Helsingborg, Sweden and back

Living History Museum - Frilandsmuseet https://en.natmus.dk/museums-and-palaces/the-open-air-museum/

Frederiksborg Castle

Roskilde

Copenhagen itself has many fine museums, canal trips, strolls, etc. I've been multiple times for days long trips and still have more to see.

If I am reading your dates correctly, you only have four full days in country.

(Arrival day= June 28 and departure day = July 3. Full days in Denmark = June 29,30, July 1 & 2).

I would do the day trip to Fredriksborg Castle. And maybe Roskilde. Otherwise you need some time to see Copenhagen itself. I certainly wouldn't be taking the overnight ferry to Oslo.

We have really enjoyed day trips from Copenhagen to Roskilde for the Viking ship museum, Helsingor for Kronborg Castle, Humlaebeck for the amazing Louisiana art museum.

We also had a lovely two day stay in Aarhus and really enjoyed the open air museum Den Gamle By and the Aros art gallery.

Your trip is coming up but just another vote for Roskilde and a visit to the Viking Museum there. And also a visit to Odense.

We did the overnight ferry from Denmark to Norway. Fantastic! I highly recommend it if you want to fit in Norway. It's a great way to travel and not "waste time" as you are sleeping and sailing!

Malmö is not that interesting compared to other places in Skåne. Have a look at Ystad, Helsingborg, Lund or Simrishamn instead.
