A bicycle is an ideal vehicle for a photographer covering rural areas.. Slower forms of travel (foot/bike) allow photographers to see. Bikes can stop where motor vehicles can't and can cover more ground than just walking. Just don't get run over by all the Danes biking every which way.

Copenhagen is world famous for its biking culture and now officially
the first Bike City in the World. Last year, it was also voted the
‘Best city for cyclists’ and the ‘World’s most liveable city’. The
Danes are well known for their love of cycling and cities all around
the world are now looking at ways to copy this phenomenon. It really
is biking heaven for the cyclist in Copenhagen with over 390
kilometres of designated bike lanes.

I also would not hesitate to rent a car. Driving was easy last time that I did it.

I was able to get some nice pictures in Roskilde. Roskilde has great sights but a small-town feel. We walked from the train to cathedral, then viking ship museum and back to train. The walk takes you past nice pastures and fields (no harvest when we were there in July/August) but we also photographed a group of girls with their miniature horses, craftsmen building ships viking style, and interesting views inside the cathedral.
