We have some hotel credits to use and are considering The Park Lane Hotel - Hellerup, for 3 days in Copenhagen this June. Is this location central to many tourist sites? Or are we better off in a different location?

No, it is not central. Hellerup is an inner suburb and affluent neighborhood. It's a pleasant area, but there isn't much for a tourist to do there. You will have to commute to the city centre if you stay in Hellerup. It's not long, takes just around 10 minutes by train, and there are more than enough departures (I count 7 direct trains within the next hour, late evening on a Saturday).
But if I were you, I would consider something closer to the centre. Most key sights and attractions are located in or near the "Indre By" area, around Rådhuspladsen, Kongens Nytorv and the like. But the surrounding neighborhoods, such as Christianshavn, Vesterbro, etc. can also be good options and each have their own charm.
