What are the sleeping accommodations on the overnight ferry ride between Copenhagen and Oslo? Dr. C
It depends what you book. https://www.dfdsseaways.co.uk/onboard-our-ferries/copenhagen-oslo/sleeping
We are traveling with Rick Steves, so the company would book the accommodations.
Small staterooms, no windows, upper and lower bunk, desk, private bathroom. Plenty of room elsewhere on the ship to gather. Sunset from the upper deck is spectacular!
I traveled on a DFDS ferry Oslo-Copenhagen last May. Commodore class room with side-by-side twin beds and a window.
What Susan said. There are some decent cafes and restaurants and a great breakfast buffet. I loved sitting in the front of the ferry and watching as we pulled into Oslo.
My tour was last June. It was cold, too cold for this wimp to sit outside!
I was in a room with a small circular window. It was comfortable, but small...not ridiculously small. We were in a room for 4 and it had bunk beds. There was a shower and a bathroom in the room. I found it to be fine. I would definitely take that boat again.
The boats are pretty nice. There are two pools and some hot tubs. We enjoyed our crossing from Copenhagen to Oslo.
I've taken the route but not with RS. I had a double inside cabin, no window, but it was conformtable and had a small, yet effecient, en suite.
I also suggest you get up early and go out on deck for your approach to Oslo. Very pretty. I kept going from one side of the ship to the other.
Our RS group had a great time together on this boat trip. As said cabins were small, very clean and made for a one night sleep in transit. Good variety of food. I do stress what Frank said. Get up early, put on your warm weather gear (I had a navy watch cap, light gloves, good coat & layered), go out upon the rear outside deck to break some of the wind. The sight seeing is fun and exilerating ... boats, small islands, forests, fishing villages, etc. Then with a walk forward you can see Oslo coming into sight. The overnight journey was one of the great highlights of our RS BOS tour.
I went on this tour in June, 2017. I was traveling on the single supplement. I think my room on the ferry was bigger than many of my tourmates. You can see photos of my room on my scrapbook section "where I stayed". my scrapbook
I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. Have a great trip.
