Hi, My husband and I just realized we have a week next month without kids and are planning to spend it in Copenhagen. I have tours set up and transfers to and from the airport. Are the transfers necessary or is it just as easy to get an uber, taxi, or train around the city and airport? Thank you!
It's very easy to get to central Copenhagen using train or metro, booking some kind of transfer seems like a waste of money in my opinion. Central Copenhagen is also very compact and the easiest way to get around is usually to walk, using the metro for longer trips.
I agree with Badger. I took the train there from Germany, but once I was in the city, I walked every place. The only time I took a train was to go to Roskilde to visit the incredible cathedral there, and also the Viking Ship museum.
Last year we took the train from airport to central station, as our lodging was near the station. This year the metro was more convenient for our lodging. Both were quite simple (although we were confused about the reserved seat signs on the train last year - but other passengers explained it to us).
Copenhagen is so very easy to explore DIY. Take a look at the Copenhagen Card. Entry to sights and transport.
From airport, public transport is easy, quick, obvious and into central city as noted above. I’ve also used taxi from airport- easy. English well spoken all over.
You may want to look into getting a City Pass--the cost varies by zones and time periods. You can download the DOT app and purchase the pass there. You can also use the app to purchase train and subway tickets a la carte.

This is for transport only. The Copenhagen Card may be better if you want to include visits to museums and attractions as others have suggested.
I agree with the others about getting the Copenhagen Card. I was there for 3 nights and it paid for just about everything; museum entries, public transportation (including the train to Roskilde and back) and more. It really is a good deal.
Thanks, everyone!
Getting to/from airport and using the Copenhagen Card for transportation and attractions was wonderful in 2019 and again in 2022.
