Is Hotel Nebo in a safe location?

We are a family of 4 (2 teenage kids) and we just booked 3 nights at the Hotel Nebo in Copenhagen. Has anyone stayed there? Is it in a safe location?

This is about a block from the train station, correct? If so, it's "safe" in the sense that it isn't dangerous like some neighborhoods in the US might be. IMO, however, the area around the train station is the dirtiest and seediest area of Copenhagen.

You have already booked, If not, I'd say try for an area around the north end of the Stroget - Kongens Nytorv or Nyhavn area. If not there, go west a little toward Rosenberg castle.

All of that area is still walking distance to Tivoli, the museums and city hall - but much cleaner and quieter. The area is also incredibly convenient, by Metro, from the airport. You can get there by Metro faster than downtown by train.

Karin,

that area is suppose to be the RLD for CPH.

I walked all around the area during the day/night looking for fun...just kidding. But i did walk around there since its more or less being gentrified and many new restaurants/shops opening up. There are (were?) some street walkers and drunks around, but i wasnt bothered nor did i see anyone getting bothered by them. There were some sex (toy) shops around the area too.

I will also say that every where ive been to in Europe has been safer, in my limited travel experience, than the USA. So you can take that as you want to.

I was staying on the other side of the train station about 2 blocks away and to me it was less "gritty" as Rick puts it. But i choose to stay there because the place was less expensive and was cool.

happy trails.

Rick doesn't recommend any neighborhood that he doesn't consider to be safe. His guidebook listing acknowledges that the hotel itself feels like a friendly, "safe refuge" despite the nearby sex shops. Since the neighborhood has been gentrified a bit since I was last there, then all the better.
