Hotels for walking to Christmas Markets

Hello All,

We just booked flights to Copenhagen for early December for a 3-day visit. We are very interested in visiting the various Christmas markets and wondered if anyone had hotel suggestions that are walkable to most of the markets and/or the subway system.

Also, a separate question we will be buying an RS Guide but unclear if the Scandinavia (all up) will have more about Denmark & Copenhagen than just the Snapshot book on Copenhagen. Want to make sure we get restaurant and hotel recommendations from whatever guide we buy. In reading the review comments on the Snapshot book it seemed to indicate the Snapshot does not include restaurant and hotel recommendations. Thoughts?

Hi there, not sure what sort of budget you're looking at for your visit to Copenhagen Christmas markets? We've stayed at the Phoenix Copenhagen (4 star, great service, wonderful location, clean, old style elegance, in fact staying there again next weekend), very close to numerous Christmas markets, but there are lots of hotels in that area. If you narrow down your preference to area & budget, I'm sure others will chime in!

About the guide book - How about a local library to check out the differences? I would buy the Scandinavian guide only if you need it. Frankly, I like DK Eyewitness guides best, because I want to see the areas well illustrated with arial views & details for example of which rooms to see what at museums. There will be others who have their own favorites. You can also download a sample of almost any guidebook & take a look at the table of contents to see what's included? Hope that helps....

Thanks for the hotel suggestion Sandancisco!

FWIW we did end up getting the full Scandinavia RS Guidebook to cover our bases and I can confirm it has both hotel & restaurant recommendations for Copenhagen.
