What a devastating loss! Gorgeous building from the 1600's, great cultural significance. Was featured in our RS tour of Scandinavia; so grateful to have toured it! The beautiful and unique dragon spire has fallen. No loss of life, thankfully - only loss of dragons.

Yes, was so sad to see this today. Five years exactly after Notre Dame here in Paris.
Wow, it's been 5 years since Notre Dame!
And of course, early reports say it started on roof, and is under renovation/construction. Seems people would learn....
Sad, we are headed to Copenhagen to start Scandinavian tour this summer.
Saw yesterday a documentary about the fire of Notre Dame in Paris and first thought seeing images of the spire in flames it had to do with what happened there 5 years ago. But can’t believe it happens again, a phantastic historic building under renovation engulfed by fire again.
That was really horrible to read about that today. An amazing building in many ways and the dragon spire was really iconic. Apart from being a beautiful piece of architecture, being Swedish I really liked the spire since it was a symbol of Scandinavian unity.
DR has a bunch of images: https://www.dr.dk/nyheder/indland/se-de-vilde-billeder-fra-branden-i-boersen It was really nice to see ordinary people running into the building to help save the art from the fire.
Thanks for sharing that link, Badger. Incredible photos. I am so sorry for Scandinavia's and Europe's loss.
Thank you. Both Dansk Erhverv (that owns the building) and the government has been pretty clear about the fact that the building will be restored and the dragon spire will return.
So saddened to hear about this, especially after visiting Copenhagen two years ago. I was inspired to write up my thoughts about the fire (and its connection to our travels) here:

Thanks for your post, Mike. You're a great writer, and I appreciate your perspective and how you included the relevant links and photos. You have an instinct for guiding!
Thank you for your kind words! Like I said in my post, I really regret not seeing the dragon spire! (and really not sure how I missed it, walking right by it!)
