Go into the city with a long layover?

Hi,

I have a layover of about 7-8 hours at Copenhagen airport.

I would like to go into the city, maybe take a tour, etc., and return to the airport.

Any recommendations for Cop "quick and dirty" (I have been there a couple of times)?

Is this advisable? Risky, in terms of getting back too late for my next flight?

thanks!

Where are you going for the next flight (Europe or USA)? Will you have bags? Time of year? All of those things affect how much actual layover time you have to do anything, assuming your arriving flight is on time and you're not traveling during some peak travel time like a holiday. Here are some ideas:

I will be going through Copenhagen on August 19, coming from the US, and going on to Stockholm.

My return flight is on September 6.

I will probably check my big bag onto Stockholm from Chicago, but I will still have a smaller carry-on.

I have been looking to see if CPH has a baggage storage place for the carry-on, but haven't found one yet.

Thanks!

Still confused - which direction is your long layover, on the way to Stockholm or on the way back to USA? If the former, you'll likely be jet lagged which for myself is not the easiest to navigate a "quick" layover. What time is your arrival? There is a Bike Mike tour that starts at 10 a.m. if you could stow your bag and get to the meeting point by that time. A bike ride would be a great way to wake up before your onward flight. I'd plan to be back at the airport two hours ahead of your Stockholm flight if you're not going to have a bag to check. It's a very efficient airport from my experience.

My route is Chicago to Copenhagen to Stockholm on August 19.

I have a layover of 8 hours, after arriving at 11:15.

You may be right, I might be too jet-lagged the first lay-over.

Return flight is on September 6, arriving in Copenhagen from Stockholm, and return to Chicago.

My layover is CPH is from 09:15 to 13:45.

Thanks.

Hi, maybe too late to help you out at this point but my family was is a similar situation in Copenhagen last week. We took the metro a few stops to Oresund where there was a nice beach that made for a great spot to unwind before continuing with our next flight. We also had a light meal and coffee at a very nice neighborhood spot near the station called Le Kaff.

It only takes 15 minutes to reach Copenhagen Centraal train station from CPH Airport. So, by all means, take the train from the airport and enjoy yourself for a few hours in København! CPH has both luggage lockers and a left-luggage counter to stash your stuff so you can go into town and have fun.
