Hi, my family and I (with 6 years old son) will visit Denmark em September. We will stay in Billund and after we will go to Skagen by car. What do you suggest to us to visit during the trip? Or maybe sleep in somewhere between these cities. Thank you.
Aarhus is a typical choice, with some interesting architecture and several museums, including the open-air folk museum, plus one for modern art and one for pre-history.
There are also any number of places you could stop for a beach day. Rick's Scandinavia book briefly mentions a couple just west of Billund (close enough to daytrip) but you may want something further north to split the driving.
Hi,
I think Aarhus is an excellent choice. There's a lot to do for all ages there. If Aarhus isn't your thing, Aalborg could be a nice alternative. A quick stop in a small cute town such as Mariager could also be worth your time.
If you're more into nature than towns and cities, you could also look into Søhøjlandet, Nationalpark Mols Bjerge or maybe Rebild Bakker.
Thank you for the ideias. We will think about these cities. We have the return Skagen-Copenhage. So, some cities could be in the coming and others in the going trip.
And about the west coast, any suggestion?
Hi. And about Ringkøbing, this city is good visit?
If nature is your priority the west side of Jutland is much more interesting than the east side. I would not send you automatically to Aarhus - been three times but I do not get the charme of the town.
VisitDenmark website has a map which allows to dive into a region.
Any special interests? Otherwise it is just guessing around.
As MarkK pointed out, I also think we need more information about your interests before we're able to recommend anything specific.
My knowledge of the mid-west coast of Jutland is somewhat limited, and I don't remember ever visiting Ringkøbing. So I can't comment on that town. I do know a thing or two about the southern parts and the northern parts of the west coast of Jutland though.
I think Visit Denmark is a good place to start. They have a lot of information, and they're not too biased.
If you like nature, you might want to look at https://eagleworld.dk/en
Thank you all! We are planning the trip now and we are open for all kind of suggestion. We prefer nature. We would like to know the North Sea (west coast). Uau! Denmark has a plenty of activities to do, places to know! It´s great.
With your help, I discovery places to go that I didn´t know before.
You are probably already here, so you may not see this, but we visited https://labyrinthia.dk and https://reepark.dk two weeks ago and enjoyed it very much though we are both adults.
