Hubby and I will be traveling to Copenhagen on June 1 and departing on June 12 for Oslo. Our organized tour has been reshuffled which leaves us June 10 and 11 with free time. The tour takes us to the major attractions in and around Copenhagen (Including Roskilde, Fredericksburg, Kronborg, Louisiana Museum). Since I believe we’ll have had enough of museums, would love to spend the free days outdoors….on the water on a sailing ship or some other adventure…perhaps hiking. Golf is also an option. I’ve seen canal cruises mentioned, but was hoping for something more. We’re both celebrating birthdays so looking for something special. We’re 66 & 70, good health, love great food and wine. Any ideas?

Definitely take a canal cruise but they do not last very long.

How about sailing on a Viking ship at the Roskilde ship museum? I know you are going there on your tour, but I doubt it includes the sailing opportunity. Roskilde is an easy 30-minute trip by train from Copenhagen.

Thanks for your ideas and links to the various activities! Certainly gives me something to consider. I’ve begun looking at golf resorts for a day trip or overnight visit. Looks like The Scandinavian is highly rated and gets good reviews. In addition, considering the western coast of Sweden. Anything interesting that could potentially be a day trip or overnight visit? I believe Stockholm is too far (5 hours by train). Thanks again!

For a different kind of outdoor activity, I really enjoyed my bike ride with Bike Mike Copenhagen. He is a hoot and you get a different view of Copenhagen on two wheels. There are openings on both June 10 and 11.
