Heading to Denmark and first time entering EU since new entry requirements have been enacted. I was in EU last fall and had photos taken upon entry but don't think that counts. I was reading about being able to pre-register before my trip to reduce entry time on arrival. Where would I do the pre entry registration? This is a one time thing, correct?
Thanks for any and all information...Amy
You can't pre-register. There is an app but it's only good for Portugal and Sweden.
BTW, it's not an EU thing. It's a Schengen thing.
Thanks..just had to look up difference. Guess we wait til we arrive then.
This isn't something you need to spend a lot of time worrying about. How crowded it is will depend on many factors.
As an example, I did EES registration at Vienna a month ago. it took a total of less than a minute from the time I entered the immigration area to being cleared by the border guard.
Having just flown through Copenhagen, I can report that entering is pretty much the same is it always was, except with scanning and kiosks instead of live agents. Still live agents as a backup and still takes about as much time as before, perhaps a bit less.
Departing is another story. You never used to have to go through long passport checks to depart; now you do. Airport is not ready with the infrastructure for that. Long lines and delays. At least they call passengers up to the front of the line if they are on a soon-departing flight. CPH really needs to do better on this.
Thank you…how much extra time do you think should be budgeted for departure process?
Check in itself is fine, so you don't have to check in any earlier than usual. Two hours before flight should be sufficient, but advice is go straight to the gate - don't lollygag in the shops and restaurants unless you add time accordingly.

I had a completely different experience. When I arrived on May 17th, the EES machines were not being used. I waited in line for 45 minutes to see a border agent.
It was the same when I departed on May 30—no EES machines were being used. I waited just under an hour to see a border agent.
