DSB train and FynBus

We are looking at traveling from Copenhagen to Svendborg and need to take the DSB train to Nyberg and then the bus (schedule works better for us than two trains) to Svendborg. The ticket with bus fair included through DSB is substantially more expensive than booking the bus separately from FynBus. Is this usual? Is FynBus the correct vendor to use? Thanks so much for any information

Thank you! DSB is only substantially more expensive when we try to book the entire trip (with bus) in one purchase. If purchased separately from DSB and FynBus, it is cheaper. The planning site redirects us to DSB site, but I appreciate your tip because it has been useful for planning. We are traveling 8/23 from Copenhagen.

I understand your confusion. When I search for KBH-Svendborg on DSB.dk I see prices from 64 DKK to 328 DKK. The high prices are for departures where ORANGE tickets are not offered or sold out. On some of the Danish language sides it also says that the DSB ticket does NOT cover the bus. SO if you look at Train-Train you get the total price, but if you look at Train-Bus you get only the train price.

Look for an orange price which suits you and buy the bus ticket on the bus (or use a "rejsekort" if you have one).

Thank you so much for your reply and reassurance. We have our trip booked now! We are traveling on to ÆRO after, and am wondering if we were to buy our ferry ticket and miss the time purchased, is there flexibility to make the next ferry? Thank you for any information.

In the Danish text I see that you can change or cancel your reservation up to 30 minutes before departure. I cannot find the equivalent in English. I don't think you can buy the ticket on arrival.

Note: 23 August is after the danish school summer vacation, so the ferries will be less busy the in July.

Ok, thank you for the information. It is very helpful and appreciated. We did see the 30 min change/cancellation note. Some places I’ve read that you should buy the ticket on board and no need to in advance. Is it more expensive to wait? I’m hoping that the end of August will provide a less crowded ferry as you indicated. We will buy round trip (Svendborg to Ærøskøbing and then Søby to Fynshav) which I know saves money.
