Dinner near the Copenhagen Marriott

Looking for a place to grab a taste a danish cuisine. We will be staying one evening (long layover) at the Copenhagen Marriott. We arrive at 3pm and leave the following day at 7am.

Also, is it pretty to quick to get through the Copenhagen airport coming from USA without checked baggage?

I would ask the concierge at your hotel. The Marriott should have staff that can direct you to a good restaurant nearby with Danish cuisine. Just tell them what you are looking for.

I've only come into Copenhagen by train, but from everything I have read here on the forum over the years, Copenhagen airport is very easy to maneuver and you should not have any problems.

Yes, there are both trains and metro from the airport to central Copenhagen. Choose whichever option stops closer to your hotel.

My experience was that "Danish cuisine" was thin on the ground in Copenhagen, likely because even the Danes don't much care for it.

Just kidding, though aside from smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches, usually on rye bread) I have to say I preferred the many other excellent cuisines I had in Copenhagen, including excellent tuna poke, great burritos in Tex-Mex style, fish & chips and spectacular Texas-style barbecue, the last being at the Mikkeler brewery's pub called Warpigs in the Meatpacking District. Unhealthy, but oh, boy was it good.

Grøften has a few danish dishes but it's inside Tivoli so you need to pay the entrance fee.

The Copenhagen airport and metro are simple to navigate and it won’t take you too long to get to the Marriott.

Traditional smørrebrød is easy to find close to your hotel. Walking to Restaurant Kronborg or Det Lille Apotek would also give you a quick tour of the city center.

A hot dog with all the toppings is another traditional Danish food to try. There are carts near the Round Tower or in most of the squares around the city.

Danish cuisine is not limited to smørrebrød!

For the best current suggestions, I would ask your hotel for recommendations - you could even contact them in advance.

We ate at these restaurants in summer 2023 - so check current reviews. I wouldn't post these as my experience isn't recent, but will since you are getting no specific suggestions: a starting point, perhaps!

These aren't necessarily "close" to the Marriott as in a block away, but Copenhagen is flat and walkable. Or, taxi.

Frk. Barners Kaelder Helgolandsgade 8A, Copenhagen 1653 Denmark We had very good food and service twice. Purposely returned as we enjoyed the first meal so much. Reservations ensured a table. Looking at current TripAdvisor reviews, some complain about service - it is popular; perhaps reviewers didn't reserve.

Restaurant Karla Dantes Plads 1, Copenhagen 1556 Denmark Food was good. Atmosphere was more "touristy" than the Frk. Barners Kaelder. Current reviews seem mixed - the place was very popular. Close to the National Museum so they may get a lot of walk-in traffic. We did a "walk-in" early in dining hours. Later, I think reservations would be required. Preferred the above over-all, but if you are near the National Museum, Karla is OK.

Adding - as noted above, Tivoli has a number of restaurants if you pay park admission. I have been disappointed with quality for price at the places I have tried, but others' experience may be more positive.
