Denmark by Car

We’re planning to travel in Denmark (+ a few days in Sweden) by car this summer and are looking for hotels that have easy parking (no downtown tight parking garages, etc), while at the same time be close enough to city centres to walk (20-30min), or take a bus/taxi. Often these hotels/inns are just on the outskirts of ring-roads, but not always. We’re basing ourselves in Roskilde, Odense, Helsingor, & Lund (in Sweden). We’ll be staying in Copenhagen at the end, but without the car, so ok to stay in the city centre there. Any hotel/inn recommendations from others who have travelled Denmark/Sweden by car are appreciated. We are 2 adults, no kids. Thanks!

Are you sure this is a good plan? Does it really make sense for you to have a car for the entire trip? And why all the different bases? Distances are pretty short in the area so I'm not sure it makes sense to stay in both Roskilde, Copenhagen and Helsingør.

In Lund you can however look at Scandic Star, Motel L or Elite Ideon. They are all outside the centre, have parking (garage or surface) and are within walking distance of the centre, or a short bus/tram ride.

Last year I stayed one night at Scandic Oceanhamnen in Helsingborg (Swedish town opposite of Danish Helsingør).
From premium rooms you have a great view over the Øresund passage, also from spa under rooftop. On weekends the parking situation seems more relaxed because partly office area.

For public parking EasyPark app is recommended.

Hotel Planetstaden in Lund has outdoor parking that you can book.

We stayed in a VRBO apartment on the pedestrian street near the square in Roskilde. We had a car for the last part of that stay (for day trips and then continuing west). There was a large public garage near the east end of the street where we easily parked. There is also parking at the train station, so for Roskilde I wouldn't worry too much about the hotel having parking as long as it is a reasonable walk from a parking lot. I can't help with the other areas.

Only you know your itinerary, but I do wonder how you are using the car. The stated locations are easily reached by train. Just pointing that out, not my intention to argue against your plans.

And, like Badger, I'm curious as to the need for bases in Roskilde, Odense, Helsingor in addition to Copenhagen. Are you planning day trips out of Roskilde and Helsingor? Or, perhaps they are part of a longer point to point journey. Both are easy day trips from Copenhagen. Again, rhetorical question that doesn't require your explanation.

As for hotel suggestions, we stayed at the Comwell H.C. Andersen Odense last July. The bathroom was a bit dated, especially in contrast with the rest of the hotel, but the stay overall was fine. Hotel is very well located right by the historic city center, restaurants, shopping. We took the train, but there was available garage parking right next to the hotel as I recall. 90 minute train ride from Copenhagen.
