Copenhagen Valby

I am looking to book an AirBnB in Copenhagen for our family trip in July 2-5. One that I am ready to book is in Valby. I am not familiar with the neighborhoods so can some friendly travel soul offer up some info on the distances and flavor of this neighborhood.. or make other neighborhood recommendations. We are traveling with 12 y/o daughters. Thanks so much.

Valby is manly a residential neighbourhood. It is well connected to the city centre by either trains or busses and it’s bordering the Copenhagen Zoo.

Thanks Morten. How long do you estimate it would take us to get to city center using either bikes or public transport? Since it is mostly residential, are there restaurants serving the area? Is this an area you would recommend to a family for spending time in Copenhagen?

Travel times will depend on where exactly your apartment is located and which destination you have in mind, but by bike it should be 20-30 minutes to Tivoli and the city centre and a little less by train or bus. use www.resjeplanen.dk to plan public transport, just type in your address and destination. For bicycle travel times I find that google maps is usually quite accurate.
I am not familiar with the restaurant options in Valby, but there are restaurants serving the local population, but it is probably more fast food types like pizza take away places. You will find a lot more variety and more interesting restaurants in Vesterbro or Nørrebro and in the city centre if you can weed out the tourist traps.
Copenhagen is easy to get around in and fairly compact, so If you have found an apartment that suits you needs in Valby and you are fine with a little transport and not being in the centre of things, then I see no reason not to go for it.
