Copenhagen to Srockholm Trains!

Does anyone have insight as to when the Copenhagen to Stockholm train tickets will become available for late June? And whether the dates to buy open up day by day, or do they release blocks at a time?

I’m having a hard time, figuring out the rhyme and reason as to when the tickets are becoming available Currently, the latest date listed is June 3 and the direct trains are sold out. Hoping we don’t miss the window for our dates!

Thanks so much!

It's usually a batch release with around 3 months of tickets. 2023 they were released March 30, but nothing has been announced for 2024 yet.

We bought ours Feb 11 for May 31. Keep checking in the 120 day range. I also believe the blocks release is true. Remember if they do not accept your credit card use PayPal especially with Vy trains in Norway.

It has not been announced, probably some time in April or May. But there is no need to buy the tickets as soon as they are for sale, so don't stress out over it.

I'm also not sure that SJ accepts Paypal.

On SJ's website, it says that they unfortunately don't know when tickets for summer will available. (Under frequently asked questions: "When does SJ release their tickets?")

The biggest advantage of buying early is that the fares are lower but there are always some tickets available. I looked at June 3rd on www.sj.se and there are several direct trains that are available so there shouldn't be a problem for the date you want to go. Changing trains in Malmö is a hassle if you have a lot of luggage.

When purchasing tickets from Copenhagen, you can choose either København H (central station) or Copenhagen Airport but the prices are the same. The Copenhagen Airport stop is 14-15 minutes later on the schedule. It's a very scenic trip so I hope you enjoy it.

SJ has now announced that the summer tickets will be released end of April. Sometimes they announce an exact date later, sometimes not. This time they have a new ticketing system so I believe not, without an exact date they can release and stop it again in case the new system isn't working. Info in Swedish and English, but the English version is sometimes updated with a delay.

For the phone number add +1 before a US phone number. SJ relies a lot on texts to communicate traffic info, since they sometimes get lost overseas I recommend to check the status yourself. Add the ticket to the SJ app or use this web page: https://www.sj.se/en/traffic-information

Thank you, Anders! We are keeping a close watch to see when the June tickets open up. Does anyone have thoughts on which side of the train is more scenic traveling from Copenhagen to Stockholm?
