We intend to visit on a Tuesday which is one of the days when you can visit the Observatory. I wondered if it was possible to visit the rest of the Tower in the afternoon, leave to get something to eat then return in the evening for the Observatory, without having to pay twice? (We will have a Copenhagen Card.)
The Copenhagen Card covers admission to an attraction one time. So, once you exit, you would have to pay for a new admission if you want to re-enter the attraction at a later time.
Thanks though seems unfair if we just want to exit for an hour to eat before coming back.
You might want to go to the Christiansborg Palace Tower which has free admission to its Tower for panoramic views of Copenhagen. The Copenhagen Card allows you free admission to the rest of Christiansborg Palace and the tours are quite interesting. That way, you can save your Round Tower admission for nighttime to see the Observatory.
Christiansborg Palace is about a half-mile from the Round Tower.

It may seem unfair, but it stops people from abusing the system and pass cards from one person to the next. It’s unfortunate, but sadly this does happen which is why they have to limit it to 1 entry only.

Copenhagen card is also valid for Tivoli where you get unlimited reentries the same day by getting stamped. I don't know if Round Tower have something similar. Follow your plan and ask, it just a small entrance fee otherwise.
