Copenhagen over Pentecost weekend (Whit Sunday & Monday)?

Hello! I'm thinking of joining a group tour of Scandinavia next year that starts in Copenhagen on Monday June 9. I'm actually thinking of arriving in Copenhagen on Friday June 6 and spending a couple of days traipsing about on my own before joining up with the tour on Monday. (I've been to Copenhagen for work many times, but I was last there almost 20 years ago so I'm sure I'll have plenty of new sights to see!)

But I just realized that I would be there the weekend of Whit Sunday and Whit Monday (aka the Pentecost holiday weekend). Could anyone tell me, generally speaking, if businesses / attractions would be closed or have reduced hours that weekend, or if public transit in the city would be running on reduced hours?

Anything else I should be aware of regarding the Pentecost holiday in Copenhagen? For instance, is anyone familiar with the Whitsun Carnival in Copenhagen which is held that weekend?

Many thanks!

I wouldn't worry. Lots of Danes will use the Pentecost to visit attractions all over Denmark. Crowds may be a bigger worry..

Ha, there is that! To be honest, I have mixed feelings -- okay, qualms -- about being there over a holiday weekend, but if I end up going I'll make the best of it. I have visions of wandering through the Botanical Garden and bopping out to the Louisiana museum, two of my favorite places back in the day, and the thought that they might be even more crowded than usual on a weekend does give me pause. Eh, we'll see.

June 8th and 9th 2025 are public holidays in Denmark due to pentecost. Shops will be closed (with the exception of some relatively small ones). So you can't do shopping or get groceries on these days. But museums, attractions, restaurants, etc. will be open.
