Thank you to all for your advice on planning our trip to Copenhagen. We will be in Copenhagen mid June for 5 days. In my investigation I noticed that many sights are closed on Sunday. We love to wander so this might be our plan. Any suggestions or thoughts?
Three tips:
- Have a look into the Copenhagen event calendar.
- Decide for a day trip, see "11 cool day trips from Copenhagen".
- With sunny and warm forecast a harbor bath or beach day might enjoy you.
Consider taking the scenic coastal commuter train to Klampenborg where there is a lovely beach by the train station (nude bathing at the far end). Cross the road and walk through a lovely oak studded park for the workaday Bakken Tivoli amusement park.
Consider walking west from Copenhagen Central Station (37 mins), via Vesterbrogade/Frederiksberg Allé, to Frederiksberg Gardens (Have) with lawns, lakes, canals, temples and a palace (1699).
I was just looking at my notes from our September trip. The National Museum is open on Sunday - we spent over 5 hours there. It covers so much and is fascinating but we were exhausted after that long. In the afternoon we walked over to Christian. Beautiful weather so nice day for a stroll. Anyway if the National Museum is on your list, you could save it for Sunday and plan to spend lots of time there if you want..
