Two travelers seeking recommendations for 4 days (3 nights) in Copenhagen in December 2018 around Saint Lucia's Day for lodging and Christmas/holiday festivities. This will be our first travel experience to Denmark. Thank you!
Lodging: Hotels in Copenhagen can be on the pricey side, but my favorite is Cab-Inn City. It's a 10-minute walk from the central train station (taxi: approx. 50DKK). The hotel is clean, comfortable and secure (BTW: The main police administration building is across the street.) A comprehensive breakfast buffet is included in the room price. The rooms are similar to double cabins aboard Scandinavian ferries. All have private bathrooms. Check out the photos on booking.com or tripadvisor.com.
Cab-Inn city is within easy (and scenic) walking distance of the City Hall (Radhus) plaza, the main shopping street, the main parliament building (Borgen = the castle; Used in the BBC series.), Church of Our Savior (climb the steeple for a commanding view of Copenhagen), and the old city walls (the citadel). At the end of the main shopping street is a plaza where there is a Christmas Market and the embarkation docks for harbor and canal tours. [BTW: Here you'll also find yourself at the front of the parliament building and can follow the esplanade along main canal back to Cab-Inn City if you want.]
If you take a harbor/canal tour, there is another Christmas Market in the Nyhavn (New Port) area, and these trips are hop on/hop off.
