Copenhagen Hotels Near Central Station

Hello Travelers - We've narrowed research down to three hotels behind the main train station in Copenhagen for June 2025 that have vacancies in our price range, breakfast and the ability to cancel without fee. Does anyone have useful advice on:
(1) which of these 3 hotels to recommend? and
(2) whether this area (Vesterbro) is safe and quiet at night?

We love the idea of walking easily to the train (airport connection), metro, and most of central Copenhagen. Thank you all so much.

Andersen Boutique Hotel, Helgolandsgade 12

Axel Guldsmeden Hotel, Colbjørnsensgade 14

I stayed at the Absalon which is across the street from the Anderson. It has been a few years but I enjoyed it.

A few minute walk to the train station and Tivoli Gardens is on the other side of the train station. The Tivoli Food Halls has some good casual food options and you can enter from the street. No need to enter Tivoli Gardens itself for this.

I stayed at the Axel Guldsmeden Hotel for 3 nights in 2022, and had no problems with it. The area is fine and very convenient both to the train station, Tivoli Gardens and many other sights. I walked everyplace and felt very safe. Service was good, and the room was very clean.

If you stay there, there is an excellent Thai restaurant nearby called Poonchai that I highly recommend. I think Rick Steves mentions it as well in his Copenhagen book.

We liked the Anderson Boutique hotel last spring. The area seemed safe and quiet. We did find that we were often taking long treks to get to what we wanted to see - Rosenborg, Nyhavn, but at least we were not carrying luggage. And the location is very convenient to Tivoli and the things in that area.

We stayed at the Andersen in mid-June 2024 and really enjoyed the hotel. Very friendly staff, easy walk to the central train station, breakfast spread in the AM was nice, and we enjoyed the free wine HH a couple of nights. It was very quiet at night and we felt very safe walking around in the dark. If you walk through the central train station, there are a lot of buses that will also help get you around.

If you stay at the Andersen and are going to the central station, use the elevator about a block and a half (maybe two blocks) from the hotel - it makes going to the subway and trains a lot easier.

I always stay in the Vesterbro area, whether travelling with a companion or solo, and I always feel comfortable walking there, even at night. Tiffany was very nice and very close to the central station on a quiet street (though this was over a decade ago). I get the strong impression that the Guldsmeden hotels are a cut above the rest. Could they be the best in town even?
