Sights often recommend booking a time and date ahead. How does this work with the card? Is there a way to indicate on the reservation site you will have the card?

You just show up, show them your card and then enter. You really do not need to book ahead. I never waited in line at any site more than a few minutes. I would suggest reviewing their website as they explain it pretty thoroughly. https://copenhagencard.com/
I used the Copenhagen card for my 2 1/2 day visit a couple of years ago and it was well worth it. I saved money because not only did I use it for attractions, but also for the train when I went to Roskilde to see the cathedral and the Viking museum. You can also use it for Tivoli Gardens, the museum, and much more.
