We are spending two weeks in Scandinavia Flying in and out of Copenhagen in early September. We like to stay in a place 2-4 days so we get a feel of where we are. I would love suggestions for places to go,places to stay, places to eat etc. Need to see the Fiords and would love to see Stockholm. Other than that we are open. What did you love?
By only experience with Copenhagen and Stockholm was changing planes on our way to and from our 2½ week trip in Norway in 2023.
So, for biggest bang for your buck spend 5-7 nights in Norway:
- 2-3 nts Oslo: museums, gardens, folklore park...
- 1 nt Flåm or Aurland during the Nutshell route
- 2-3 nts Bergen: the Bryggen, Mt. Fløyen
Travel in either direction following the Norway in a Nutshell route. It is a very scenic journey between Bergen and Oslo by public transportation - trains, bus and ferry- across Norway traveling through mountains and beautiful fjords ( both the Aurlandfjord and the spectacular Naerøyfjord).
You can DIY or book the package through FjordTours. By overnighting in Flåm or Aurland, you'll have time to visit Stegastein Viewpoint to see the fjord from above and possibly go kayaking or hiking.
