Castle recommendations

We are visiting Copenhagen in early June prior to a Scandinavian cruise. We will arrive late Friday afternoon and will board the ship on Monday afternoon. We were planning on doing the Hans Christian Andersen walking tour, a harbor cruise and the Rick Steves City Walk on Saturday. We thought we might take a day trip to Hillerod and Fredriksborg Castle on Sunday and walk through Tivoli Gardens that evening for the ambience and to see the lights. Would it be worth it to also visit Rosenborg Castle (maybe on Monday morning), or would that be an overdose of castles? Any other suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your suggestions and advice!

I liked Rosenborg Castle. There is a nice garden around it, too.

The Design Museum is outstanding.
Full of amazing furniture, fashion and inventions. It also has a nice cafe inside.

I see it's reopening, after renos, in June.
Don't miss the Changing of the Guard every day at Amalienborg Palace.
It's also amazing.

Copenhagen is wonderful...an open air museum!
Bring plenty of money....it's all very expensive...
If you take one of the free walking tours, also recommended; the guides explain very well why it is so expensive in Denmark....wonderful Social Services for all is why.

I’ve never been but if I were in Copenhagen I would not leave until after seeing the Rosenborg Castle and Treasury.

Rosenborg is nice & worth a visit. It is small & doesn't take long to explore. My photo of the crown in the Gold Room is one of my favorite pictures I took on my last trip. The grounds are beautiful when the roses are blooming.

The Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek is my favorite museum. It is across from Tivoli & is also fairly small. The building itself is beautiful, with a winter garden & a rooftop deck to view Tivoli & the nearby Town Square. The collections are diverse - French paintings, Greek pottery & Roman statues, among other items (mainly sculpture).
