Has anyone done a canal tour in Copenhagen?
Thanks, Janet

Yes, I have.
I just walked up to one I liked the look of and bought a ticket.
No idea which one it was.
It was great to see everything from low on the water.
Quite relaxing if you’ve been walking all day.

Yes, we have done that and it was quite fun. We just walked up to whichever one was there when we decided, so did not plan ahead at all.

Yes. I don't remember the name of it, but we did the one recommended by Rick Steves (merely because it's a little cheaper). I no longer have the guidebook, so I can't look it up, but I remember that you need to walk a little past the others to find it.

We did this and enjoyed it. If it’s a sunny day be sure to wear a hat and sunscreen as the boat is open.

Yes, recommend taking one. You will see things you would miss otherwise. It is a nice overview of the city.

We did the cheaper Netto boat tour in September. Rick’s guidebook recommends them because they’re cheaper but do the same tour. Their boats are narrower and have fewer passengers. The guide stood up front and provided descriptions of sights we passed in Danish and English, using a microphone. The speakers were spaced along the inside walls of the boat, designed to make his narration easy to hear.

Trouble was, we were squeezed into seats towards the back, in the next-to-last row. The very back row was full of what turned out to be boisterous drunks. As we stood in line waiting to board the next boat, we could see that the people at the back of the open-top boat had beers or glasses of wine. Having a good time, that’s nice! Well, we were then ushered onto the boat that was about to leave. Turns out there were two more seat spaces determined to be available (I guess they did a head count). Great! No more waiting! Well, once we got to the back row that supposedly had the spaces, it didn’t quite have enough seat space, because of the guy taking up lots of extra space by spreading his legs very wide. He wouldn’t move, and the guide had to come back and ask/demand, in Danish, that he keep just to his one marked space on the bench. He begrudgingly moved his legs, and then his two friends sitting one row ahead moved back with him, and we took the two spaces on the bench they had left. Once the boat took off, the entire back row started talking and shouting. The two young women just behind us finished their first bottle of bubbly, and opened another, clinking glasses every few minutes, and talking loudly the whole time. Apparently the back row wasn’t a single group, all together, but they all just got louder and more obnoxious as the tour went on. We could only hear bits and pieces of what the guide said thru the speakers. I asked the women behind me, twice, to please let us hear the guide. They spoke perfect English, but ignored the request. The tour was visually nice, but the drunks detracted from the experience. Go on a tour, but if you see people who’ve hauled bottles or cans of booze onboard, don’t sit near them. These were Danes, not “Ugly Americans,” and didn’t seem to be there for the tour, just a different place to be rude.

Netto! That's the one. But our experience was the opposite of yours, Cyn. How awful! We had an experience like that on our return from Japan. Our original flight was delayed 10 hours, and we didn't learn of the delay until we were at Narita airport. So, anyway, by the time we got to Vancouver, we'd been up for a very long time and were exhausted, and, of course, we'd missed our connecting flight home. We ended up with seats at the back of a later flight, among a sports team whose members were all drunk and celebrating loudly. Ugh.

Anyway, we were first on the boat, it wasn't full, and everyone was lovely. Even people sitting on benches or crossing bridges that we passed waved at us, and we all waved back. It was fun.
