Bus 166 from Kolding to Billund and return

Is anyone familiar with Bus 166 from Kolding to Billund? We will be staying in Kolding and want to take a day trip to Billund (Lego house) on Tuesday, July 8th. Seat reservations are not possible, and we have a group of 4 people who need to stay together.

1. Would the bus 166 leaving Kolding at 9:20 and arriving in Billund at 10:18 typically be very crowded?
2. If we have Eurail passes, do we still buy bus passes/pay when entering the bus?
3. For the return bus 166 from Billund to Kolding, the dsb website lists two bus 166 departing from Billund to Kolding at 15:59, returning to Kolding 3 or 4 minutes apart...but both say "0 stops." The same is shown at 17:54 departure. Is there something tricky about the return busses from Billund to Kolding?

Thank you!

  1. I don't know, but it's outside rush hour so I would not worry about.
  2. Yes.
  3. I don't know, check with Sydtrafik that operates the route. The schedule lists a single 15.59 and a 17.54 departure from Billund centret.

Hello,

I don't have experience with that specific bus line. But I do have experience with public transport all over Denmark. I don't need a car in my everyday life, so I don't have one, and then I use public transport to get around most of the time.

Would the bus 166 leaving Kolding at 9:20 and arriving in Billund at 10:18 typically be very crowded?

No, 9:20 is after rush hour, so I would not expect that many passengers.

If we have Eurail passes, do we still buy bus passes/pay when entering the bus?

Eurail is a train pass, not a bus pass. So I believe you'll need separate bus tickets. If in doubt you could ask Eurail or Sydtrafik.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't say 0 stops. It may say 0 changes/transfers? I can see DSB's website does show two departures, and that is a little strange. On the pdf timetable from Sydtrafik it says just one bus at that time. Anyway, since it's not DSB's bus, I'd look it up on Rejseplanen (the official public transport timetable website) where it also just show one bus departure.

The reason for 2 different departures being shown by DSB at the same time is 2 different stops in Kolding- the first arrival in Kolding looks to be at the railway station, the next one 3 minutes later is at the next stop - the bus terminal.
