Hi all
Cruising mid May and will be returning to Copenhagen. We will need to get to the airport on the quicker side, as our flight leaves at 12:15---it was that or wait another day, which we didn't want to do. Norwegian rec. at least 6 hours before flight and we have 5 hrs, 15 minutes. Should we take a taxi or rely of the transfer offered by Norwegian? Does any one have experience with this? Thanks.

Check location of the port to the Copenhagen metro line - the metro goes directly to CPH. It would be cheaper than a taxi too. Unless you have a ton of luggage which would be a pain to drag on the metro...

The Copenhagen Metro is not very extensive (it doesn't even serve the central train station, for example). Fortunately, local transit also includes many other train lines: https://www.abildskou.dk/media/6049/liniekort_kbh_stor.gif
You should check exactly where your cruise ship docks, but I think it might be near the "Nordhavn" station on that map, where you should be able to get a train (not Metro) directly to the airport.

The cruise port is no where near a rail station.
There is a bus that can take you into the city where you could catch a train. I forgot the exact number of the bus, bur I think it might be number 28.
Still, you have to schlepp luggage and I don't recommend that.
Taxis are expensive in Copenhagen, so I recommend checking out the cruise line's bus to the airport.
