Accomodation in Copenhagen and Herning

Plans to go to Denmark from May 2 to May 19. Due to world ice hockey tournament seems that most budget hotels are full.
I tried most budget hotels listed on Rick Steves guide for Copenhagen and no luck
Any suggestions?
I am flexible if hotels are within 30 minutes commute to Copenhagen.
I would appreciate any help?

Have you considered Airbnb or VRBO? I have also used apartmentincopenhagen.com before. They are very professional and have lovely properties. Many of them are about the same as you'd pay for a hotel but you get to stay in a comfortable home.

Have you tried some of the booking sites, like booking.com?
