I am planning my trip to Denmark. With 2 day trips to the Northern Jutland ( from Aalborg ) is 7 days in Aalborg too much time?
7 days just in Aalborg is definately too much time in my opinion. But if you have a car then the area around Alborg has a lot to offer. A trip to the viking burial sight Lindholm Høje just outside Aalborg would be a must. another viking sight is the round fort of Aggersborg west of Aalborg. Near that is the WW2 German gun battery at Hanstholm http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hanstholm_fortress . Further north aloing the coast is Rubjerg Knude lighthouse http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubjerg_Knude_lighthouse , which has been completely covered by sand and nearby is Mårup church, wich is about to fall into the sea because of coastal erosion.
In th far north is the lovely fishing village of Skagen, which see a lot of tourists during the summer, alternatively you could spend a few days here. Nearby is the migrating sand dunes Råbjerg Mile and the victim of the migrating sand, the sand-covered chuch http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sand-Covered_Church.
Morten,
Thank you for the information, I will cut my time there down to 3 or 4 days. Are the Viking museums reachable via local bus?
Yes both viking museums are reachable by local bus. Use http://www.rejseplanen.dk/ as your travel planner for all public transport in Denmark. Lindholm Høje is only 20 min from the city centre http://www.nordmus.dk/lindholm-gb
whereas Aggersborg is an hour and a half away, i can't remember if there is a museum there.
Morten,
Thank you. I am still working on the final itinerary, your help has helped me narrow down this portion of the trip. You have been a tremendous help.
You're welcome, glad to help.
