8 days in Denmark and Norway

Can anyone suggest an itinerary for 2 women traveling by car from Copenhagen thru Denmark? Would like to make an overnight stop in Oslo Norway, returning to Copehangen. We will be traveling Sept 26th thru Oct. 6th.

Thank you,

We have visited Copenhagen once and Oslo several times. I would suggest allocating three nights (two full days) to both Copenhagen and Oslo. And if in Norway for the first time, squeezing in the Norway in a Nutshell tour (Oslo to Bergen via the fjords) and back) would be on my list. However, that all adds up to more than eight days and a car would just be parked somewhere in Oslo while doing the NIN train-boat-bus journey. That would leave you with several nights in Copenhagen and Oslo and a lot of driving.

How are you planning on driving through Denmark and getting to Oslo? The best route would be the overnight ferry from Copenhagen to Oslo. But don't go all that way for one night then turn around and go back. I think you need to get your map out and re-figure your trip.

Thank you for your response. Rethinking our trip, we will not be renting a car. We have extended our to stay to 10 days, arriving Copenhagen on Sept. 26th and returning Oct. 6th. Our thought is to spend 3 nights in Copenhagen and then travel to Aero/Aeroskobing and spend 1 to 2 nights. Would then like to travel to Oslo and spend 2 nights and do the NIN trip overnighting in Bergen and return to Copenhagen.

Please comment on this itinerary and suggest methods of transportation and also advise how to do the NIN. Should we purchase tickets via internet or once we are in Denmark.

Thank you so much for any information you can provide.

If you book your return flight from Oslo (OSL) you could spend the extra day in Oslo or fjord country. Or return from Bergen to get an extra day in Oslo AND in the fjords. (And it could be ironic that in depart OSL or Bergen back to North America you would likely connect in CPH if you fly SAS).
