Hi everyone,
In May I'm going to spend 7 nights in Copenhagen as I've won a stay there. I'm coming from Edinburgh on Sunday and meeting with my parents on Monday to check-in at that hotel and spend a week there. Obviously I'm thinking about day trips. As of now I've added Helsingør and Helsingborg to the list, which other towns do you think are worth visiting from Copenhagen? I've already been in Copenhagen by the way and from there I spent a few nights in Malmö and Älmhult. This time we'll have to be back in Copenhagen by night time though.
I'm also wondering where to spend the first night between Sunday and Monday. I've found some nice spots in Ystad and Simrishamn (both in Sweden and easily reachable by train from CPH airport). Otherwise I was looking at Hillerød or Roskilde, but I haven't found an accomodation I like. Any advice?
Ystad's very nice.
Roskilde has the cathedral and the viking ship museum. It's a short train ride from Copenhagen, so you can even go back to show your parents around.
Take look on Dragør (Dragoer). Easily reached with bus 250S.
If your are there in summer half of the year I recommend Dyrehaven (Deer Garden) with the royal hunting lodge (https://kongeligeslotte.dk/da/slotte-og-haver/eremitageslottet.html) and Bakken (https://www.bakken.dk/english/). Easily reached by S-train to Klampenborg and a nice walk or an (expensive) horse carriage ride.
@l.p.enersen - All great info, thank you! I'm going to look into those and show them to my parents.
@acraven - Yes, it looks lovely! Ystad is at the top of my list of options at the moment.
(And enjoy your time here in Italy!)
Yes, as previously mentioned Roskilde is a worthwhile day trip and a short train ride from Copenhagen. We really enjoyed the sights there.
We also enjoyed Odense and visiting the new H.C. Anderson museum. When we went you needed to buy museum tickets in advance (they were for specific timed entry). This might be another nice day trip from Copenhagen for you to consider.
@donnellyjen74 - Sorry, I've just seen your reply.
Thanks for the suggestions, I will definitely look into the Andersen Museum.
Ystad and Simrishamn are both charming towns. Lund should also be on the list, both for a day trip and a place to spend the first night.
I chose to spend the first night in Ystad because I found an interesting hotel that I'd really like to try.
But I will keep in mind all the other suggestions for our day trips.
Thanks again, everyone!
