5 days in Denmark

Hello all
We will have 5 full days in Denmark in March., not including the Monday we arrive. We will do sights in the city for 2 days, 1 day for Roskilde’s Viking ships and Odense for Hans Christian Anderson, 1 day Frederiksborg & Kronborg & Blixen Museum. That leaves 1 more day. How do you suggest we use that last day remembering it will be in March. We could rent a car for that last day if necessary to either go to Aero or a quick day trip into the nearby part of Sweden. We fly to Berlin on the 6th day so we could return a car at the airport. We are very experienced international travelers but this is our first time in Scandinavia.
Thank you for all your suggestions.

Assume you mean Copenhagen as the city you are staying in.

We love the Lousiana Museum of Modern Art at Humlebaek which is an quick train trip from Copenhagen. It's easy to spend half a day there as it has lovely grounds with lots of sculptures as well as the galleries. A great collection of Giacometti sculptures and generally really interesting temporary exhibitions. We have combined Lousiana with Helsingor (Kronborg castle) in the past as they are both on the same train line.

Fredericksborg, Kronborg and the Blixen museum in one day is goi g to be a very long day, especially if you are using public transport. You can easily do Fredericksborg and Kronborg in one day as there is a local train line joining Hillerod and Helsingor. In Helsingor there is also a really interesting maritime museum just near the castle. And you could also combine the Blixen museum with Lousiana on another day.

Sorry, I missed saying that we are staying in Copenhagen and will spend 2 days exploring the city.

Thanks again!

That is a very rushed plan. Ærø is not a destination I'd recommend in March. Somewhere in Sweden can be an option, or Århus, which is a bit further away so you should spend the last night there. But it is worth a visit, and Jutland is often overlooked.

Thank you AussieNomad for your very helpful comments and suggestions! It’s always nice when someone responds with positive help instead of criticism about the length of your available time. Of course we always wish we had more time.

Rushed is not just about the amount of time available, but how much you try to do in that time.

But don't worry, if you don't appreciate my posts I'll stay away from your threads.
