1-2 hours from Copenhagen for 2-3 days

I’m joining a group trip in Copenhagen in late August. The "group trip" will include Copenhagen, Ven Island, and Stockholm. I’m flying into Copenhagen 3 days early and would like to find a single location within a 1-2 hour train ride to stay for 3 days and enjoy a different part of Denmark (or Sweden). I will not have a car so while I love the idea of visiting a small town, I realize there needs to be enough there for me to enjoy several days.

Here’s what I love: beautiful views, good food (although I’m probably not a super adventurous eater), chocolate and desserts-to-die-for, lots of walking and exploring, design and architecture, a nice hotel. (I’m already going to the Finn Juhls house as part of the group trip.)

Someone from a different forum suggested Lund, Sweden, so I'm looking into that. I was also wondering maybe Ystad, Sweden??

Thank you for any other suggestions!

Odense, Denmark. Helsingør, Denmark. Both have interesting old town centers, multiple museums and "sights". Easy train rides from Copenhagen. Both could be done as day trips from Copenhagen as well, but you can only hit the highlights without extra days.

From Helsingor, you can take a ferry to Helsingborg, Sweden (bring passport) which has attractive areas easily walkable from the ferry stop. Louisiana Art Museum or author the Karen Blixen (Out of Africa) estate is on the train route from Copenhagen. Odense is the opposite direction, but lots to see with Hans Christian Andersen places, a living history museum, etc.

You might also consider 3 days in Copenhagen and take day trips to areas not covered by your "group trip". Is the group doing day trips to Helsingor, Roskilde, Frederiksborg Castle, living history museum Frilandsmuseet? There is so much in Copenhagen proper, even without the day trips. I can't imagine a "group trip" would begin to cover everything unless the group will be there for well over a week.
