I saw a review about a wine tour in Loire Valley run by a Brit, maybe. It included a tour of 2-3 wineries and lunch, etc, and it received excellent reviews. Does anyone know what this is? Or have any remarks or reviews about Loire Valley tours. I, also, saw something about a boat ride/picnic down the River. Anyone done this? My husband and I are staying in Amboise for 2 full days.
I kind of recall seeing something on a boat ride down the Loire but can't seem to find it. The wine tour/lunch sounds like a nice idea and I'd be interested to learn more about it as well. We'll be heading to the region in Sept and are looking for other things to do or see besides the castles.
There are many guided tour options around the Loire, but we don't specifically recommend one fitting that description. Rick's book lists some in-place wine-tasting options in and near Amboise, Chinon, and near the gate of Chateau Cheverny. The Amboise Tourist Office will have tour brochures similar to the variety found online, but probably will support all the local merchants pretty equally, rather than giving you a strong opinion about them.
