Tour guide: Amsterdam and environs

At the beginning of our one week visit to Amsterdam in May we engaged That Dam Guide for two guided tours. The first tour was on 9 May; our guide was Lee for a four hour private walking tour of Amsterdam. Put simply, Lee was excellent; she’s knowledgeable, responsive and genuinely interested in people. She covered everything we wanted and then some. She gave us a comprehensive introduction to the city, socially, historically and politically. Our second tour was on 10 May for a full day comprising several hours visiting the tulip fields, a lunch at a quintessentially Dutch eatery and a walking tour of Haarlem including a working windmill. It was a small group tour of just eight people. Mark, the proprietor of That Dam Guide, was our guide for the day. He was absolutely first rate being very knowledgeable and entertaining. When I was booking our tours with Mark I was impressed with his responsiveness and the candid and complete answers he gave to my questions. Mark and Lee are first rate tour guides and my wife and I recommend them and That Dam Guide without hesitation. Rick should add That Dam Guide to his list of recommended tour guides.

So glad you enjoyed your tours. We also did the city tour back in 2015 (with Mark) and then the Countryside tour (with Rob) at the end of 2016. Even though he didn't have tours scheduled for December he did have another enquiry and worked to cinch down a day that worked for all of us so we could have a tour.

I agree enthusiastically! We had a great 3-hour tour of Amsterdam’s center with Rob from That Dam Guide. Knowledgeable, entertaining and gave me some great suggestions for further reading about Amsterdam.

That Dam Guide is less expensive than other tours and only takes small groups on his tours which makes for a much more enjoyable experience!
